wedding breakfast entertainment at Rivington Hall Barn with John Norcott

Wedding entertainment at Rivington Hall Barn 24th June 2016

It was great to be back at one of my favourite venues for the wedding of Nicola Armson and James Alexander.

Rivington Hall Barn Wedding 2016

Nicola and James originally met me at a wedding open evening at Rivington Hall Barn, back in early 2015 and decided to book my Gold Entertainment Package. This package includes entertainment from the wedding breakfast through until the end of the evening, including live singing, acting as wedding host and full request DJ service.

I set off from home nice and early because the weather was terrible, the rain was so heavy I was drenched just walking from my house to the van but they do say its lucky to have rain on your wedding day. When I arrived at the barn it was still pouring down and the front carpark had a steady stream running downhill. Luckily guests were nice a dry under the new conservatory that has been constructed over the past few months. The conservatory has glass folding doors and looks out over the new patio area and Hall Gardens and so offers a versatile space regardless of the weather conditions.

When guests came into the barn from the drinks reception ready for the wedding breakfast they checked this unique bycicle table plan to find out where they were seated.

Each table was named after a brand of motorcycle manufacturer including Triumph, Honda, Kawasaki etc.

There were nice touches throughout the venue including this gift table.

Once guests were seated I announced in the new Mr and Mrs Alexander who entered to the dramatic overture of the Star Wars theme tune, which was met to rapturous applause and cheers.

We began proceedings with the speeches so that the top table could relax and enjoy their meal without stressing about having the speeches after the food. To start off I introduces Mike Armson to make the first speech as brother of the bride. He delivered a fantastic and personal poem which he written himself. The poem was both heartfelt and amusing and I felt fitted the occasion perfectly.

Mike finished his speech by sharing a rather fetching picture of groom James dressed as Princess Leah

I then introduced groom James who was to respond to Mike. Although he seemed calm and collected he admitted that he was now more nervous after hearing Mikes fantastic display. He needn’t have been nervous though because he delivered his speech clearly and with just the right amount of sentiment and humour.

Then it was time for the best Men first Amin stepped up and got underway with the character assassination. As you can see he used visual aids and some great pictures.

The pictures got steadily worse for James but I must say Amid did also add some fun anecdotes from when him and James lived in Manchester followed with some heartfelt words to finish off.

Next it was time for Richard. When I first met Richard he seemed quiet and a little nervous. I was soon in for a shock once he stepped up for his speech. The character assassination was quickfire and with little restraint. Luckily the bride and groom took his anecdotes in good humour and he rounded off with some compliments for both Nicola and James.

Then it was my turn to entertain, I sang a mixture of swing and easy listening tracks through the starter.

It’s always fun entertaining the kids especially big kids that are for to cool for school lol.

In between courses I had the whole room with their arms in the air singing along to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and Sweet Caroline.

After the wedding breakfast we turned the room round ready for the evening reception. This involved me setting up my lighting rig, DFC provided a white LED dance floor and Sunshine Events set up the Photo Booth.

We kicked off the evening reception with the cake cutting and then Nic and James danced to Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud for their first dance.

The wedding party and guests joined the bride and groom on the dancefloor.

After a fish and chips supper it was time for me to get guests up on the dance-floor for my upbeat party set including songs like Uptown Funk, Shut Up and Dance and Sex On Fire. These people knew how to party 🙂

Once I had finished singing I then provided a full request DJ service and the requests came in thick and fast. Ranging from Rock to 90’s pop the dancefloor was well used throughout the night.

I had an amazing day entertaining the new Mr and Mrs Alexander and would like to wish them many happy years together. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the team at Rivington Hall Barn, who as always looked after me and ensured the wedding went perfectly.
