The New Mr & Mrs Kennedy
A stunning wedding at The Belsfield Hotel Bowness
Saturday 25th June 2016 I had the great pleasure of entertaining Laura McLeod and Mike Kennedy for their stunning Lake District wedding. I had originally been recommended to them by Lauras brother in law Phil whom I went to sixth form college with along with Laura’s sister Natalie. They got in contact and then booked my Platinum package. Through the planning process I met with Mike and Laura twice to ensure we had all the details in place and that the day would run smoothly. They live local to me so this was easy to arrange and great to get to know them a bit before the big day.
The morning of the wedding it was pouring down in Wigan and as I set off I was hoping for a change in weather for the bride and Groom, off to the Lakes I went.
I arrived at the venue The Belsfield Laura Ashley Hotel nice and early and the weather was mixed to say the least. Beautiful sunshine as I arrived and then soon after the guests arrived from the church it began to rain.
The venue was brilliant with stunning decor (as you would expect from laura Ashley) and really friendly and helpful staff.
The church was only a short walk away from the hotel and as guests walked up the hill through the gardens they were greeted by the smooth sound of Jesus on Sax. During the drinks reception we were treated to some great Jazz music perfectly accented by Jesus.
The rain didn’t hold off for long but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the day, photo provided by Pixies in the Cellar
We then moved through to the wedding breakfast where the room had been beautifully dressed in white by http://www.eadenfloristry.co.uk/
To welcome the wedding party into the room Mike and Laura had chosen the music, Jubel by Kinglande and as I introduced the groomsmen followed by the bridesmaids and then of course the happy couple Jesus accompanied the track with his live Sax playing which create an awesome atmosphere.
Before we got the wedding breakfast underway we started proceedings with the speeches. They were fantastic and the character assasination of the groom started right from the start, with Father of the Bride who made sure Mike and his best men had a great act to follow.
After the speeches it was my turn to entertain with a mix of classic Swing tracks and some more lively interactive songs to get the guests involved.
You know you are in for a good day when the guests are singing along from the first song.
I also had the pleasure of meeting a star of the future who sang for the ceremony
Instead of wedding favours Laura had the great idea of spending the money on some bigger prizes and we had a raffle after the meal. This is the first time I had seen a raffle at a wedding but must admit it was brilliant, instead of everyone getting the usual bag of almonds or small bottle of spirts there were prizes ranging from SPA days to bottles of Champagne. It was also a great opportunity to get the kids involved in picking out the winning tickets.
The evening reception took place in a different room in the hotel and so whilst guests were waiting for the evening to commence they were entertained once again by Jesus on Sax along with my friends from Augustus Gloops who provided the Chocholate Fountain.
